D365 Finance & Operations and Dynamics AX Forum

We currently use AX2009 and have real time shop floor departmental information that scrolls on TV screens on the production floor.  We are getting ready to move to D365 and so far the best that our solution provider can do is provide this same type of information via Power BI that is about 10 minutes old.  We really need a solution that is closer to real time when production scans have been made for each department in the manufacturing process.  This screens are broken down by department with columns for each day of the week and also a weekly column as well.  Supervisors, leads,  and employees monitor these screens throughout the day and week to know how close they are to meeting their goals for the day or week.  Please provide me with any possible solutions to get us closer to real time information out of the D365 cloud version of AX.  #D365 ​

Hi Randy,

If you haven't already, you may want to look at getting a Power App created through your dev partner and should be a service that was packaged with your D365 purchase. We actually are in the process of setting shop floor visualizations for in-process work and have simulated through one of our testing environments and can confirm data refresh is within seconds.

We had contemplated setting up a board through PBI but like what you are saying it puts a constraint on 'real-time' data.

Hi Jennelyn, do you know how the data is retrieved via PowerApps? Are you using a connector to AX or are you pushing data to the Dataverse and then showing it via the Power App? We're playing in this space now. Wondering what other companies are doing and how it's working out for them.

I believe it's the former -- connector to a specific D365 dev/test environment with customized control formula for data return back to the canvas app.

Overview of Building Canvas Apps

All of the dev work was handled by our service partner (MCA Connect) so I don't have specifics I can really share.
