    Hello Fellow AX People,

We are seeing quality orders that are removing inventory.  What can cause this?  We're at a loss to gain insight online.

None of the Test Groups have the 'Destructive Test' flag turned on.  We do not see any fields available for the quality order or the QO lines that indicate 'Destructive Test' -- we only find this on the Test Group itself.  All the quality order tests have passed and the quality orders have been validated.  Of the ones we have identified that removed inventory, their test groups have also been used in quality orders that did not remove inventory.  5 of the quality orders have a reference type of 'Inventory'.  The others have a reference type of 'Production'.  All the 'Inventory' reference types removed inventory - we are not sure why these were created.  Only 3 of 'Production' reference types removed inventory - all others worked as they should have.

We are on AX 2012 R3.

    Thanks,

It's my recollection that, if the test is not destructive, the Quality Order will reserve said quantity while the QO is open, but if the QO is closed with a Passing result, the quantity is returned to inventory.

Are you finding the quantity to have been deducted even after closing the QO with a Passing result?

    Mark,

That is what we understand as well.  We clearly see the QO was responsible for removing the inventory.  The QO tests were passed and validated.  The QO was validated as well.  None of our Test Groups are set for destructive testing.  We are not able to find a field on the QO itself that would indicate a destructive test on that particular QO.  Is there a field on the QO that would tell us that if that QO was set for destructive test?

    Hi Mark,

I have not seen this behavior myself, but perhaps this helps you in the right direction.

Quality orders with type inventory indicate that the quality order has been manually created. Perhaps you can find out what user created these and see if you can reproduce this? When creating quality orders manually, it's also possible to change the type from Inventory to Production, so I believe all five QO's you mention have been created manually.
To maybe help solve the issue, are the test groups the same for all quality orders that removed the inventory? It sounds silly, but is there a chance this is a different test group that results in an inventory status that you don't see because of a(n advanced) filter?

    Kind regards,
    Arnold

The Destructive attribute is managed in the Test Groups list:

    Mark, Arnold:

Thank you for responding!  In the end, we found this was self-inflicted.  On the quality order, the 'Destructive Test' field name was changed in the AOT to 'Approved'.  It was felt the field was available as they do not do destructive testing and it could be re-purposed.  When looking for the 'Destructive Test' field on the quality order it could not be found (seen).  This has been changed back to out-of-the-box.  All is (and has been) working as it should.  The business decision was reversed.
