We started our meeting with introductions from attendees and whether they are working on or off site. Kelly Kane added a bit of fun to the meeting with her polling app capturing everything from our Dynamics version to how we really feel about COVID…anxious and tired were the most common words.
The chapter recognized our own chapter leader Lenora Gusler on her retirement with kind words and well wishes. We will truly miss this wonderful lady!
Andrew Lencsak, Solution Delivery Manager from Arbela Technologies, presented Consolidation Strategies in D365 F&O/SCM and AX2012. Drew stressed that it is important to recognize your system's capabilities and set up what is optimal for your company. Understand your goals to help define your strategies for inventory, production and supply chain. Review default order settings since these affect costing and are sometimes overlooked. Use master planning types and grouping options to best meet your needs in planning. A lot of what we saw in planning also applies to manufacturing strategies in terms of coverage groups and manual consolidation. Will you schedule based on like jobs, machine efficiency, minimized changeovers? Similarly, your warehouse strategy should consolidate shipments, enforce minimum order quantities where possible, and a replenishment plan that optimizes your process. Drew followed up each section with a quick demo of the setup fields. Slides from this presentation have been posted in the Chapter Library.
Stay tuned for details about our Q4 meeting. We would welcome someone doing a Customer Showcase, so if you're interested, please reach out to me, Connie or Kelly. Hope to see you there!
