The default location for the receipt of return orders is the purchase receiving location specified on the warehouse master record. That has to be license plate controlled to get license plates on your inbound materials. You can set up your location directives to direct the return orders to a non-license plate controlled location, so that the license plate identity disappears when the item is moved to where it is going. The main issue we found with using the scanners on return orders was that you have to enter a disposition at the time you perform the receipt. In our case, the material needed to be checked by an inspector in order to determine a disposition. So our process calls for us to move customer returns to the quality department, and then the inspector will record the disposition while registering the return order in the standard AX form.
