Return Reason Codes

We are currently reviewing our return reason codes for RMA's. We have some new codes that we need to add and "disable" some obsolete codes. We can't and don't want to delete those old codes, but is there a way to filter those items by default our of the view when creating an RMA so they would only see the "new" ones?

    Hi Justin,

Have tried using reason code groups to segregate the different codes?

We do have groups created, however, we still have the same problem. We would need a way to filter out those "archived" reason codes. Otherwise, the list of codes will be quite large as it includes both active and archived codes.

Without deleting them, sounds like you will need an enhancement to deactivate them within the list.  I've not seen what you are asking in base.  Hopefully someone else has a better answer for you.  Good luck, thanks.

I agree there is no base functionality to do what you are asking.  You could create a Return Reason Group "Disabled", and then create an XDS policy that filters out Return reasons that are in the disabled group for all users.  Any time you want to disable a return reason code, just switch it to the disabled group.  This could work, but it is somewhat clunky.

    Hi Colby,
Thank you for the response. That is not the answer I was hoping for, though. I find it hard to believe that there isn't some sort of functionality to do this. What are other Companies doing as they review their codes and need to make modifications to them? You cannot delete them as they are tied to existing orders, so they have to stay out there.

    Hi Justin,

As a possible short term solution:

This wouldn't necessarily keep people from choosing an obsolete code, but could you edit the description of all obsolete codes to begin with something like OBSOLETE 8/27/19?  I believe the description shows up when choosing a code, so the user could be trained to filter the description field for !obs*.
