1.  Security Role to cancel a PO

Posted 10-12-2017 11:07 AM
As a new user in AX2012, I'm looking for some guidance on the proper Security Role to apply to users that will allow them to cancel a Purchase Order.

Thanks- Wes

Here is a link to AX Security for 2012.

Also you can find what each role is allowed to do if you go to System Administration > Setup > Security > Security Roles

The easiest way I found to figure it out, is go to the screen, where you see the cancel button.  Right click on the grid and click [Personalize], and expand what is inside the screen to find the cancel button.  Click on that and you see the MenuItem that is tied to the cancel button:
Then go to that MenuItem  (it is in the Action subgroup of Menu Items in the AOT)
Right click on it, Add-ins > Security Tools > View related security roles.
It will give you a great grid like the following letting you know the Privilege, Duty and Roles assigned to that entry point.

You can then either make a new Role for that user adding what Duties and Privileges they need - if one of the Roles shown will give them too much control in the system.

Sometimes just giving them that privilege isn't enough - because they will also need the security to get to the Purchase grid so they can see the cancel button.

Just to add what Dan Cantley posted, to help find the necessary permissions that will get you to the correct form you can use the Task Recorder feature in the Security Development Tool (AX 2012)

Turn this on and walk through the business process you would like to perform, the tool will record all menu items touched during the process which will give you an idea of the other permissions a user would need to perform that process.

How would I track permissions on a "tab" item?  Specifically, I am trying to figure out what's required for a specific user to view the "Overview" tab in the Workflow History form.

It is visible to Sys Admins, but I can't figure out how to give access to others.
