Labor Standard Set Up and Usage

    Good Morning

My name is Matt Segee and I am the corporate supply chain manager for Reily Foods. We are a food manufacturing company based out of New Orleans LA. I am located on our Boston campus. We went live with D365 for our warehouse operations in November of 2018 across three of our campuses. We are interfacing with AX09 for our financials with a go live plan in Q3 2021. I look forward to collaborating with the group.

Is anyone leveraging the Labor Standard functionality? What has been your experience? We are just starting to investigate the functionality and I find it to be not as robust as I hoped. The canned reports do not provide much information, although I am sure that lack of knowledge of set up and functionality is a factor. Has anyone found this functionality useful? What other opportunities are there for labor tracking?

    Appreciate any feedback

    Hi Matthew,

I presented on Labor Standards at AXUG this year.  As a supervisor in a past life, I manually built out tools like this for my warehouse picking processes and it was great.  I could come in and see the labor required for each days work and move employees around accordingly.  That said, Labor Standards in D365 is more geared towards efficiency tracking after the fact than actual labor planning. That's a big miss in my book, but one that can be overcome with a couple small mods and a good process.  You're correct the reporting is thin at best.

Attached is the content I provided and a deployable package that has the data entities necessary for the workbooks.  You might also consider a couple tweaks to the Warehouse Performance analytical workspace to get better reporting.

I just want to confirm that Labor Standards are all tied to WORK and thus indirect activities.  If you want labor tracking for direct activities in production, you need to look at Time & Attendance / Manufacturing Execution.

If you do implement, please consider sharing your story at a Summit session, I think this functionality is grossly under utilized.
