We are currently working on the upgrade to 8.1.3 PU23.  We have a development instance established and there are several features in the release notes that we want to take advantage of, however we are not seeing any of them out of the box.  It is my understanding that you have to opt-in on new features, but I don't see any screen that might manage this.

The new features we are interested in are as follows:

    1.  Reverse General Journal
    2.  Enhanced Grid functions - mass update, totals, grouping
    3.  Create Data Management Jobs across Legal Entites -  The release notes say that you must request this from Microsoft.

Has anyone crossed this bridge yet?

I believe these are 10.0 release features which are supposed to release in Apr 2019.

    Hi Mark,

Moin is correct. These features are planned for version 10. However, not all of them would be released in April. You can look at the next page for the current planning (may change...): https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/business-applications-release-notes/April19/dynamics365-finance-operations/planned-features

These features are fully articulated in the October 2018 release notes.  I see now that there is a table buried in the document that puts a date on when the feature will be available.  HERE'S AN IDEA, MICROSOFT:  THE RELEASE NOTES SHOULD BE AN ACCURATE AND COMPLETE REPRESENTATION OF WHAT IS IN A RELEASE.

    Hi Mark,

On every page, there is a disclaimer when the features may not be part of the initial release. The link I provided you has an overview when you may expect the features. Also the October 18 release notes did have the disclaimers and release dates on an overview page. I can understand your confusion. Instead of just release notes, it is now a live document with also a kind of roadmap for the upcoming 6 months.

Sorry, Andre.  This is indefensible. If the document does not accurately describe the functionality in the release, then they are NOT release notes.  The October 2018 functionality is static.  It does not need a living document with disclaimers on every page.  In fact, putting a disclaimer on every page pretty much makes it a worthless document because now I have analyze a 400+ page document to determine if what I am interested in is or is not included in a release.  If they were truly release notes, it would be 100 page document that people could efficiently evaluate the features the are about to deploy.

If Microsoft wants to have a living document, great.  Call it a Roadmap or a Living document.  But they also need to provide release notes so I know what I am deploying.
