  • 1.  #AX 2012 Production order MPN34304919 could not be scheduled. Scheduling failed due to timeout

    Posted Mar 03, 2022 11:47 AM
    Hi,

I am getting an error on the MRP log that I cannot seem to figure out. The error reported is Production order MPN34304919 could not be scheduled. Scheduling failed due to timeout, it is linked to a specific resource group that has expired resources in the group. What it appears to be doing is scheduling for the first expired resource (infinite capacity so loading to the first one). Also it doesnt occur for all planned orders that has that resource group or for all planned orders of the same item number. It seems to only affect the first planned order.

I have tried increasing the efficiency on the resource & increased timefences but neither have worked.

appreciate any help or suggestions people may have?
    thanks

Ho Joanne, this message basically means the scheduling engine still hasn't scheduled the order and it hit the timeout threshold and failed. You may need a sysadmin to update this parameter, but there' s a Scheduling timeout threshold that prevents MRP from running forever in scenarios that are complicated to schedule (i.e. bad routes, complicated and many calendars, complicated resource assignments with capabilities, etc.).
If you are on D365, this setting can be changed from Master planning > Setup > Scheduling parameters

If you uncheck the "Scheduling timeout enabled." button, you won't get that error, but MRP will run until it can resolve that scheduling conflict that is locking it.

Hi Andrew, thank you for your response. Is there a similar setting in AX2012 R3... we are not on D365 yet. thanks.

Hi Joanne, Yes the same settings exist in AX2012, they are just not located in the Master planning module. If I recall correctly, believe the Scheduling timeout parameter is under a Scheduling parameters section the System Admin or Org Admin module in AX2012.
