Besides BOM's and exploding at BOM journal is there a way in 365 to create kit that holds various finished goods but the quantity of some items can change at sale for someone who is not doing production or using retail?

    Hi Deb,
Avoiding BOM explosions (or some common customizations that have been done with same for sales kits) and Retail, leaves a couple of other native options to consider when dealing with selectable/configurable sales kits in D365 for Ops (now D365 SCM). For instance:

You could use a Product configuration model.
Mark the kit "Auto-report as finished, This will cause an automatic BOM journal at invoice.
Create a product configuration model for the item where the qty of each item is dynamic.
