AX 2012 to D365 Migration of Security Roles

Hi, I'm looking for any advice of the most efficient way to migrate security roles without building new ones from the ground up.

As an example, I'm trying to take a position with 8 custom security roles in AX 2012 and create one new role in D365 with the same access.

Are there any third-party tools that would make this an easier process?

    Thank you!

    Kevin,

Depending on the version of AX 2012 there may be a direct upgrade path for your security. However, I will say that there are new security features in D365FO that may allow you to simplify some of your roles (the Deny permission being the big one). I have a security blog where I go into the changes between AX 2012 and D365FO security to give you more insight into these changes. I also have numerous sessions available online surrounding security, audit, and compliance topics.

If you are looking for 3rd party tools, I am the lead developer on the Fastpath Security Designer tool. Which would help you during your setup and configuration of security (ability to analyze task recordings to determine securable objects) as well as to ensure you are compliant from a SOD and licensing perspective.

Would be happy to set up a time to chat about security best practice when upgrading your security, feel free to reach out!
