Anyone knows why a sales order line item would assign a batch that has no inventory?
if there is no stock the batch number should be blank.

How these items works
They are weekly orders....
Orders are placed on line and they go on backorder
a production order is entered for the quantity on backorder
when production is complete the backorders are filled.

for some reason the system allocated the batch in production for new orders but the quantity reserved is already assigned to previous week order, therefore the batch should be blank.

Are you using marking to link production orders to sales orders?
What is the issue status of the sales order transaction with the batch number?
Do you create the production orders by firming a planned order?
