I had question about sales tax integration software with AX 2012.
Any experience Avalara, Sovos or one source. Any insights would be helpful

You did not specify where (what country) you plan to use that.
My 2 cents based on me looking into these products, that these products are meants mostly to be used in the USA

I would suggest Vertex if you're located within the US. From my experience on the functional side, it is the easiest to navigate and deploy.

I have deployed Avalara, CCH/Wolters Klewer and now deploying OneSource. If you are just looking for USA, Avalara is okay but service is spotty. OneSource is more robust for example it handles indian reservation sales taxes. It's also a little less expensive. WK I would avoid as it is not cloud based, requires you to download rate changes and it creates thousands of tax codes, hundreds of tax groups.
If you have any international operations avatax can't support the AP (recovery) side of vat and gst. OneSource can handle virtually every country so if you need international now or in the future it's the only choice of these three.
