    Hi Folks

was wondering what would be the best way to setup a notification email based on a transaction status (Approved PR's).
this e-mail needs to be sent to an email account that is not linked to any user in AX.
the current Alert rules only allow to notify AX users...

    Thanks!

The email account, even if it is an external email, it must be linked to a user so it can be sent properly. There is no way to isolate that field unfortunately.

    Thank you for the reply!
i guess if i create a "Dummy" user with system user role only it will still consume a license..

    Hi Seif

we had the same situation in my company.
We solved all the notifications with an automised excel sheet which is directly connected to the AX database.

I could share that with you if you like.
we did not find a good thing inside AX to help with that case.
and we have many many approvers.

On top of that we designed some pretty cool tools to gain control over the workflow. For 3 way match and packing slip posting too.

    Cheers
    Carsten

We have accomplished this using rules in outlook.  We send any job alerts to a centralized mailbox.  That mailbox simply relays messages throughout the organization based on rules.

It's not terribly elegant, but it works.

We found this to be a lacking feature when we started our multi-phase migration to AX in 2013. Our legacy system had a far more extensive alerting system where you could send alert emails to any Contact. One solution we came across was using SQL email. It works for us in the approximately 50 situations that we have determined were needed based on specific criteria.
