Sales Order reservation

We have auto reservation set when a SO/SO lines are created. The SO lines and the items go on backorder, as it should, when then item is not available.

However, when the item arrives via a PO and is received, the SO lines are automatically updated to reserved.

So far so good. Here is our problem... the requested ship date remains as the old date that was entered when the order was created. How can the Requested Ship Date be changed automatically to a new date on or after the item receipt.

    Hi Ravi,
There is no way to do that automatically. If you use Master planning, you can get something like an Action message suggesting you update the SO line ship date because the inventory to fulfill it will not be ready by the current ship date, then apply the suggestion Master planning offers, but there is nothing to automatically update it. You would have to write a customization for that, which would have all sorts of implications depending on how it was written and your business process.

Hi from New Zealand, We are a large importer and distributor so our situation is slightly different but the same principles apply. In AX 2009 we had a mod "cascading ETAs" which updated all the ETAs from the shipping container to the related purchase orders in the container (often consolidated from multiple suppliers) and further down into the related sales orders (backorders). Due to long lead-times from Europe, etc we have 1000-2000 backorders open at any one point in time.

We are currently in the process of upgrading to D365FO and having to using D365 standard functionality, configuration and ISV add-ins rather than resort to re-creating our 150 odd AX 2009 mods. I don't know the exact details but I understand that we have achieved this using DXC's (ITM) Inbound Transportation module/add-in. Your DXC consultant should speak to Paula Wong in their Auckland NZ office.

Happy to find out more from my colleagues ion the project if necessary, Ian (CFO & D365 Project Manager)
