I can't stop myself chiming in to concur with Andrew, and add: if you find yourself manually rescheduling frequently, more manual rescheduling is not the answer. The step for robust sustainable planning is to define what isn't happening the way you want and get MRP configured to work as you want. It is an ever-evolving process, and new people and processes in the business will lead to new needs.
So, you are on the right track: get the planner educated in AX, then challenge them to define the need and set the system appropriately.

Subject: Master Planning Order
I am looking for suggestions on how to educate a new master planner in D365FO. They come from a highly customized SAP solution and our organization has a firm commitment to keep standard functionality or "out of the box" settings wherever possible.
The challenge is that the master planner wants to constantly ignore MRP and schedule production orders out of sequence. These orders have multiple sub assemblies and this is adding to the confusion and frustration when attempting to manually reschedule the planned orders. What would be the best way for a Master Planner to re-arrange a multiple level planned production order and then firm it to the schedule?
