Hello, We will be doing a compile with cross references in preparation for archiving our old data. Does anyone know if a compile can be stopped and if so, how to do it?
We are on AX 2009  Roll up RU 6
    Build number

    5.0.1500.3761

    Thank you
    Cristina

Hi Cristina, only way I know of is to stop the AOS.  That said this is not a good thing but you obviously have reasons to consider this.  I would immediately start another compile once you get the AOS back up as your system will not be in a good place till you get a completed compile.

    Good Luck

Hitting the Control-Break key will interrupt a compile an return control back to user. You should get the prompt "Are you sure you want to cancel this operation?", but it might take a couple minutes.
I do not know what state this leaves the source code. I would expect that you would want to re-execute a compile as soon as possible.
If you are updating cross references, you have an option to delete first - I don't know if those roll back to pre-compile state.
    Good question!
