    Hi all,

I have a couple of questions regarding Management Reporter in AX 2012.

    1. In AX 2012, how to import budget entries directly into Management Reporter without using Budgeting module.
    2. How to insert a column for manually entering budget amounts in Management Reporter for comparing Actual vs. Budget

    Thanks

    Hi Vani,

I recommend reading the following blog on using an Excel sheet for your budget data: Management Reporter – Excel Import

Regarding inserting a blank column for manual entry, I don't believe this is possible. As MR 2012 does not export CALC formulas to Excel, any manual entry would also require an update to the variance calculation.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Vani.

To include budget balances in a Management Reporter report, your two options are to pull the balances from an AX budget book code or from an Excel spreadsheet. There is no option to import balances directly into Management Reporter's databases and no option to allow a budget input column as Management Reporter is a read-only application for balances. You could hardcode the balances in formulas in the Row Definition, but that would be one calculation row for every budget row and possibly a hidden 'actuals' row that is non-printing and then included in the budget formula rows if you want actuals beside budget.

    Hi Noah,

Thanks for your response, appreciate it. I'm not clear on hardcode balances. Can you explain me in detail on how to do this or do you have any link that explains the steps.

    Regards

    Hi Vani.

Let's say your actual balances are in column B of the Column Definition, your budget balances will display in column C and your Row Definition would have the following to get actuals pulled into a non-printing row and then a CAL row is used to reference the actuals row and set a budget balance of $15,000 for the CAL row in column C.

Row Code  |  Format Code  |  Formula
100  (Row 100 pulls actuals and is non-printing)
    200  |  CAL  |  B=B.100, C=15000

The Column Definition has column B as an FD Column Type and column C is a CALC Column Type with no formula.

Using this idea doesn't allow drilldown to account level details or transactions and you really couldn't use a Reporting Tree with this report too easily.
