AX 2012 R3 support after end of life

    Hi Everyone,
would be interested to find out if there are any companies on AX 2012 R3 that are not planning to migrate to D365 before MS mainstream support ends October 2021.   And if so, what plans are you putting in place to ensure you still get the support you need for AX 2012 R3. For example are you planning to get support from a 3rd party other than Microsoft.
Thanks for any information you can share.

    Hi Frank,

I hope you are well. I do not have an answer for you yet, but I can tell you that you are not the only one with a similar concern. We are currently working with a few clients who do not have immediate plans to migrate to Finance and Operations. We are focusing our efforts on access to security patches, tax updates, and compatibility with other third-party solutions, as well as, third-party support options in cases of emergency / outage. We are working to have this plan ready as soon as possible, as it is a real concern for those on 2012. I am sorry I do not have a better response at the moment, but am happy to offer more assistance as we sure up our plan.

    Hi Sarah,
thanks for your response, good to know we're not the only ones that may still be on R3 after support ends! My understanding from MS is that they will continue to provide security patches with extended support but we are also concerned about similar issues as your clients (staying current with regulatory changes in particular). Please stay in touch as you firm up your plans!.

    Hi Frank

you will surely be not the only one.
There are many AX2012 (and even older versions) customera on the market. We also only plan our way "to something new" after 2023. From my central european expericene over the last 20 years we only had about 3 regulatory / legal requirements that needed to added to an AX core (!) instance after the rollout. ( we tyoically do not install CU / SP unless it is a legal requirement)  We had more required updates where the solution has been provided by a 3rd party, like salary. For all of this we allways found good solutions with our business partner(s). So on a short term until 2023/24 i don't see a "pressure" to move .. but plan your journey. (and maybe MS acts like SAP and changes the date ;))

    Regards
    Pirmin
