Hello, i'm wondering if anyone has started running the planning optimization and have a website that explains if the setup is different from master planning?  in preparation for it, we started testing in our test environment.  As expected it the time it took to complete much better than master planning however, we finding that the results are not the same as our master planning; in planning optimization resulted in 1,239 lines while master planning we had 638 lines which is typical # of lines for us.   The difference is that planning optimization is not considering pending transfer orders or planned orders.  We setup planning optimization criteria same as master planning but I am not sure if there is a different setting for planning optimization we need to consider.

    Appreciate feedback and thoughts.

    Hello

Planning optmisation does have some discrepencies with standard master planning. THere is no special configuration required for planning optmisation except for the activating it.

You can refer Planning Optimization fit analysis - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365
    Microsoft remove preview
Planning Optimization fit analysis - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365
You should analyze the result from the Planning Optimization fit analysis as part of the migration process. Note that the scope of Planning Optimization is not equal to the current built-in master planning functionality. We recommend that you work with your partner and read the documentation to prepare for the migration.

    Rejul,

We've read the documentation and did the fit analysis in our SBX environment after we copy PROD data over but we just didn't expect these differences.

I appreciate your feedback and guidance.

We have been asking Microsoft for an explanation of the differences, but haven't gotten a lot of useful detail.  Definitely log bugs for any issues you come across, because we are probably all experiencing the same pains.

    Gabor,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  Are you logging issues in a specific place or just on here.  I submitted a ticket with MSFT.   The response they gave didn't address any of the issues we experience but suggested to join Yammer-->Planning service group where there is a lot of communication about planning opt.  One thing we didn't realize is that we have to wait to receive an email from MSFT to migrate to Plan Opt.

Depends on the issue, but we definitely log a bug with Microsoft for anything that does not look correct.  We recently enabled Planning Optimization and are still testing.  We have been following the Yammer groups and there seems to be a lot of good interaction with Microsoft employees there.

    Best regards,
    Gabor
