Warehouse Priority

    Hi all,
How does the system decide which orders are auto-firmed when the supply is limited?

The question can be related to a situation where the same product is transferred from one warehouse (11) to two different warehouses (12 and 13), and both warehouses have a demand with the same date. (Note the diagram below.) We may simply consider one of the warehouses more important than the other one.

In the system, the product is set up to transfer goods from Warehouse 11 to Warehouses 12 and 13 and therefore the demand in Warehouse 11 is dependent on the demand in Warehouses 12 and 13.

I have realized that the allocation order is fixed and in this way some warehouse are always facing shortage.

Do you have any suggestions in this direction?

Hi Mohammad, both planned transfers would get autofirmed as autofirming is based on your Firming time fences. It does not stop auto firming in the case there is no supply in the supplying warehouse. It does not need to know which order to allocate, it would autofirm them both and if there is a shortage, then the system would create more planned supply for warehouse 11 to meet the transfer demand for both 12 and 13 since it could only replenish one of them at the moment. However, the autofirming is based on demand which is still there even if you can't meet it.

If you want to control which warehouse gets the stock, that will be based on how you process the transfer orders, not how the planned orders are autofirmed. The only way it would matter is if you are using marking and expect one of the orders to place a reservation against the supply warehouse once firmed.

    Hello Andrew,

You correctly got my point in your second paragraph. We want to control which warehouse gets the stock; because we frequently face shortages. In this way, for example, warehouse 12 would have a higher priority to get stock and the other one would always have a shortage.

I suspect you are using the automatic release of transfer orders to the warehouse to create reservations and work.  If you are, can you sequence the transfer orders by a field linked to the warehouse?
