Bring Your Own Database(BYOD) in D365FO - Export data problems

    Hello,

I am trying to export the data using BYOD.
All dataentities in the project are transferred quickly and successfully but unfortunately, the dataentity named 'Sales order headers V2' doesn't work.
It works after waiting too long (about an hour and a half) like the one below.

This time doesn't make much sense because my other BYOD projects with dataentities with a higher number of records are completing much faster (about 15 minutes).
I droped the 'Sales order header V2' dataentity and published it again.I cleared the staging table.I ran this project with a batch job.But none of this was a solution.
Another problem I have is with 'Sales order lines V2'. Although it does not give any errors, it ends as 'Failed'.

Any thoughts on these issues will be of great help.

    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Secil

One possible explanation is that the records that the 'Sales Order header V2' data entity is reading from is locked, and so it never is able to completed.  Typically reading records will ignore any locks on a table, but it is possible it is waiting on records until they are unlocked to finish reading them.  I don't know that this is happening in this case, but it is something you could look at.  You can try to ensure that no other users are in the environment when you try the export.  If you are in a Dev environment you can restart the AOS website by opening 'ISS manager'.  You also can open SQL Server Management, and then open the 'Activity Monitor' and see if there are any locks on the SalesTable table, or other tables that are part of that data entity.

You can also click on the 'Infolog' button and see if there are any other helpful messages stored there.  So it looks like from your screenshot that the 'Log test' section is blank.

    Hi Peter,

Thank you very much for your reply. It is not possible to disable the users because it is a live system.
While running the batch, I check that there is no lock in the system using active monitoring.

    Best Regards

Hi Secil, Sales Order Header V2 has a lot of fields and some of them are virtual fields.  Virtual fields needs to be calculated (X++) before they can get exported.  On top of that, because of virtual fields, all the data needs to be staged locally to D365 DB before getting exported to your BYOD.  I would guess the bottleneck is creating the local staged records.  I would recommend you create your own entity (customization) without virtual fields if that's an option.  Few questions :
    - How much time elapsed before if fails?
    - Do you get some records created in the BYOD or not at all?
    - What is the performance level of your BYOD?

    Hi Steeve,
There are 15 dataentities in BYOD.I'm just having trouble with 'Sales order header V2' and 'Sales order lines V2'.Other 13 data entities are transferred successfully. When I run the batch for only these two dataentities, it takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.(It takes about 1 hour 30 minutes when I run it for all dataentities)
When the batch is completed, 'Sales order header V2' is transferred successfully and 'Sales order lines V2' completes with errors but does not give any errors.Statu only shows 'failed' and cannot be transferred.
This is really strange, because until a few weeks ago the time was still the same, but the transfer for all data entites was possible.
Maybe it would be better if I narrow the fields rather than export all the fields.

    Hi Secil,

When I was implementing BYOD at our company, I had multiple issues with the Sales Order Header V2 and Sales Order Lines V2 to run in my batch job.  For the Sales Order Header V2, I had to drop and re-publish the entity several times and finally after several times of doing that it would exported without errors.

On the Sales Order Lines V2 entity, I had to remove the fields in the batch job.

    ORDEREDCATCHWEIGHTQUANTITY
    REVRECSALESDELIVERNOW

On the Entity Line in the batch job, View Map > Maping details > Select field > Delete > Save

I noticed the last time I re-published Sales Order lines V2 the field REVRECSALESDELIVERNOW was no longer in the Sales Order Lines V2 entity so you may not have to remove.  I would highly recommend creating a new batch job and test and making sure the Sales Order Lines V2 export works with this modification before applying to your production batch job.  This is what worked for me and not sure if we are experiencing the same error.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Tim,

Thank you very much for the reply. My problem with 'Sales order lines V2' was solved when I removed the unnecessary fields you said.
    I really appreciate your help.
