Planned Batch Orders By Multiples

We have many products we want to produce in definite quantities.  We have our Released Products setup with default order settings for inventory quantity under inventory of Multiple 72, min order quantity 72, Max order quantity 0, and standard order quantity 0.  We expect all Planned Batch Orders to show up in quantities that are multiples of 72, but we are seeing the batches produce up to the demand for orders.  When we have an order for 850, the Planned Batch Order will show 781(850- 69 our current inventory) and stop there.  I would expect this number to be 792 instead of 781 because of the multiples of 72 requested.  I have also tried changing my Max Order Quantity to 144.  This created a 5 Planned Batch Orders of 144 plus an extra one of 61.

When I have an order for 850 due out today, it passes the 850 mark to create batches in multiples of 72.  Is there another setting I am missing/

    Thanks in advance.

    John,

    Couple of questions.

    1. What is your coverage group for this item?
    2. The default order setting you have is under the Inventory section?

I have attached screenshots to help answer your questions.

The coverage group is a custom field and yes the default settings are in the inventory section.

    Hi John,

You're saying Batch orders, so I am assuming you have Formula Items, not BOM items.  If that's the case, you have a field on your Formula Version, at Released Products -> Engineer Tab in ribbon -> Formula Lines -> Header part of form "Formula Multiple" field OR you can go to Inventory Mgmt -> Common -> Formulas, select Formula in top of form, Formula Version is in bottom of form, "Formula Multiple" field.  Either way you access the Formula Version, enter your 72 in the Formula Multiple field and re-run planning for that item.   This field trumps DOS multiples for formula items, since you can have multiple formula versions based on batch size, and you might need to step up in different increments based on the demand quantity.

Here's a screenshot from 2012, but its the same in D365:
