    Hello Najeem,

AX2012 does not natively support FTP as a file transport or mechanism for importing journal entries into AX.  In order to get journal entry into AX, you would typically setup an AIF inbound port.  The port would use the file system adapter and would monitor a location on the file system of the AOS server.  When a file appears in that directory, the port would then pick it up and import the file in as a general journal entry.  The file would typically be an Excel/CSV template.  If you need to use FTP, you could either enable FTP on the AOS server and then have the AIF port monitor that FTP directory or you can have FTP running on a separate server and use a UNC path in the setup of the AIF port to point to the FTP server.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Good Advice Ranny,

I would encourage setting up FTP on a separate server, and letting the AOS contact it via UNC path. FTP is a weak point in network security and may take some effort to properly secure. The thought of having any leaks end up with access to an AOS server is a bit scary :)

This is a blog with decent advice on securing FTP:
