The BI tools rely on ODATA which places a restriction on performance.

The restriction becomes a bottleneck on large data volumes creating long run times above 30 minutes.

There is a way to bypass this though using an old school method that Microsoft has repackaged and called BYODB.

    Hi Paul

I agree that although OData is a great interface for opening up back end databases, we have also seen its limitations (and many times in fact), I believe this is a limitation of the technology (it's not just AX7-specific). I'd be happy to share some of our results at ZAP, and discuss alternatives to AX7's Data entities/OData if you are interested to get a more robust BI solution that adapts well to customizations, and let you integrate many other datasources.
