Unable to Post Transfer Journal "Fiscal Period is not Open" but Period is Open

    Hello Everyone,

We are running into a problem when we are trying to post a transfer journal.  We are receiving a "Fiscal Period is not Open...." error when trying to post the journal.  When we validate the journal it shows as okay but when we go to post it , we get the error.

I know this error is caused if you do not have the period open on the ledger calendar but the thing is we do have it open.  Our current month is on hold and we are still working on last months transactions since its close for us.

I am not sure why we cannot post a transfer journal today for last month when the period is open.   If i am posting a transfer journal today for last month and i have my period open for last month and for the current month its on hold would that make a difference?

When posting we change the posting date but it looks like its trying to post in the same month instead of the date that is on the journal.

    Hi Hector,

My first thought is that the period is open but the module for the journal is not open. Can you confirm that the module is also open? If that is also open, can you provide a screenshot of the error and the journal you are trying to post? That would help to understand what is happening. Is the transfer you are posting within the same company?

    Hi Hector,

I assume this is an inventory journal, and it should be fine, but I would also change the system default date when you are doing entries - also, of course be sure that both GL and inventory modules are open.  I have found that in some cases, it looks at the current date even though it really doesn't need to.
