Link between ledger account and account structure

    I use D365 F&O
From General ledger > Chart of accounts > Accounts > Main accounts
Does somebody know if there is a way to see in which account structures a ledger account is part of?

    Hi Annie,

There isn't a very handy way to see that. If you just want to know what financial dimensions are required for an account, you can create a general journal entry. When you add the account, you will see what is allowed for financial dimensions. However, that will not tell you what account structure is being used (unless there is an error where it will tell you the account structure being validated). The other option is to create a budget register entry. This is still not very straight forward but you can select an account structure and then in the dimension values field you can see all the main accounts that are on that account structure. This does assume that main account is set as a dimension to use for budgeting (which it usually would be). See my screenshot for example.

Hope that helps even though it's not a great answer.

    Hi Annie,
That is a tricky and thus interesting question... I consulted my colleague and he suggested using the Table Browser. See detailed instructions below.

    1. Install Table Browser Caller Extension to your Chrome browser: 2. Go to Table Browser and search table DimensionAttributeValueCombination or use this link (First edit the link to reflect your Dynamics address and Company ID):
    https://yourdynamicsURLaddress.cloudax.dynamics.com/?mi=SysTableBrowser&TableName=DimensionAttributeValueCombination&cmp=100&lng=en-us&limitednav=true
    3. Filter by Main account (See picture below)

Please note that the results show only the Accounts that have been used on the Journals.

Happy Friday and hopefully this tip will be helpful to you!

    Hi Annie,

I export the "Account structure allowed values" data entity from Data Management and sort by account. It gives you all the relevant data but you have to scroll through any account ranges.

It sure would be handy to have a quicker way to do this though.. This may be a good candidate for submission to the Ideas page.

    Good luck!
