Master Planning- Planned transfer orders

    Hi all,

We are active in retail industry, managing more than 30 warehouses and 1600 stores. We run the master planning and feed the stores with the Planned Transfer Orders. Now, we came across an issue.

Assume that for a certain day in a store, there is a Demand Forecast (=11) and Minimum QTY (=5), and the Multiple of the item for ordering is equal to 10.

Besides, Minimum fulfill is First Issue.

In this way, system generates two distinct transfer orders with the same Order Date and Delivery Date! first one is to peg Minimum and its QTY is 10 (equal to multiple) and the second one is to peg Demand and its QTY is 20 (according to multiple).

So, the total requirement for that day is 11+5=16 while the generated transfer order amounts are 20+10=30. we expected to first aggregate them and then round it up to multiples (11+5=16----->20).

The question is that how can we set up system to integrate orders for the same day?

    Kind regards,

    Mohammad Gholami

    Mohammad,

You did not mention which version of AX you are running but in AX 2009 there is a setting in the Master Planning parameters, on the Standard Update tab to group your firmed transfer orders by Date, Week or Month. Try setting that to date since you run transfers daily, that should consolidate all firmed orders on the same day into a single transfer order.

    Hello Randy,

Thanks for your explanations. We are using AX2012 R3 CU13. We had already set group the planned orders to Date but surprisingly the orders pegging the safety stock are not consolidated to other orders.
Is it a bug or I have to check other settings?

    Mohammad,

I don't think there is any other setting in Master Planning to control this with Transfer Orders but if you are using Shipment Templates I would look there next. Look at the Joint Packing setting on the transfer template if you are using one.

Try using a Coverage Group where Coverage Code = Period and Period days = 1. This should combine all demand for an item on a day to be grouped into one quantity on one planned order.

    Hi -

If you are using Safety Stock in AX2012 R3 CU13 make sure you have the big Safety Stock KB installed.

KB 4074644 and KB 4457336 (KB 4457336 is the latest).

    Thanks....Dave
