Patrick,
I don't have a lot of 1st hand experience in implementations, but I have spent the better part of the last year learning, and focusing, and presenting on the possibilities of F&O and PP. Julia Simpson, with HSO out of the UK, is one of the top industry experts, with actual implementations, many of them, under her belt. Per her, the trickiest thing really is licensing, and security. Both can be easily managed and resolved with a clear POC that identifies who will need what data.
You can also use Dual write function instead of Power Automate to bring data to the CDS.
We have a NEW Power Platform group in Columbia, SC. You should join our group, we are going to tackle issues just like this and help get more Power Platform and F&O success stories.

Subject: Successful Power Platform Implementations?
I have been experimenting with Power Apps and their usefulness in solving business problems in our D365 FO system. Most of the work that I have been creating involves pulling data into the CDS with data flows then using an app to update that Data or create new data and then pushing it back in using a flow.
Before we go all in on this I was wondering what kind of success stories people have had with implementing power apps that interact with D365 FO and or if there have been any major issues. I would really like to get a handle on what people that have already tried it feel its place is at this time.
Thanks,
Pat
