MRP not looking at On-Hand Inventory

Current version of D365 Finance and Operations is Platform 35.

One of the goals is to stop buying parts that are in excess in our inventory. Our MP is giving signals to our buyers to buy even though we have excess.
I need some help to understand why our coverage groups that are currently set up may be causing the problem.

Our MP has only one Plan with the following settings.

A new item coverage group called DNB "Do Not Buy"  is setup to ensure that Master Planning does not pull in by marking it as Manual.

When testing the items under the coverage group of DNB were still triggering a "planned purchase order." This should not occur and based on our understanding and think there might be additional setting that is overriding when MRP runs.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi -

Have a look at the Coverage Hierarchy. MRP searches for Coverage with these stops....

    1. Item Coverage (Released Product | Plan tab). Example, setup by Site, or setup by Site and Warehouse. See your Storage Dimension Group field Coverage Plan by Dimension. Most granular of setup. You could be Manual for Site 2 but not Site 3.
    2. Coverage Group on the Item (Plan fast tab). Per Item for that Legal Entity. Not as granular.
    3. MP Parameters. All Items. Not granular at all. Ensures Items will have some Coverage designated if no setup is done above.

Also, you could put DNB on the Item (#2) but you can override if Item Coverage (#1) is setup.

    Thanks.....Dave

What is the value in the positive days field on your item coverage group?
