  • 1.  Workflow users did not get email notification

Hi, I would like to understand the email notification for the workflow.
I have a few users who stop getting workflow email notification in the production environment since 1/10.
Example I have user A,B,C and D as one of the approver for workflow. User A,B and C got the email notification but not user D. email sending status shown that the last time user D got any email notification was on 1/10.

I checked the user option -> Workflow for user D and she has the email notification on.
We did an upgrade to 1.0.6 on Jan 11 (I don't know if it is related to this or not).

I recall dealing with this a few months back. I posted a few comments here: https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/f/dynamics-365-for-finance-and-operations-forum/372421/user-stopped-getting-workflow-approval-notification

    I recommend trying this:

Retype the SMTP email and password in the sys admin module.

Then go to their user options and retype their email address.

This resolved our issue with this same problem.

    Hi there,

We experienced this with that version update as well - see this thread for more info: https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/f/dynamics-365-for-finance-and-operations-forum/372481/workflow-not-generating-email?pifragment-106094=1#responses

Hotfix KB 4526351 may help but we ended up fixing it via manual workaround due to the time sensitivity.  The following solution worked for both EFT payment advices via print management as well as user workflow notifications:

    1. Remove SMTP settings in system admin and re-entered it along with the p/w (System administration > Setup > Email >Email parameters > SMTP settings)

    2. Re-select SMTP and updated e-mail address with all lower case letters (sysadmin > User > User options > Account > Email provider section)

Also note that you can check email sending status here... where you can see when they stopped and started up again to validate once it has been fixed: System administration > Periodic tasks > Email processing > Email standing status

This may be the dumb guy response, but when you set up a new user, D365 sets the workflow email notification flag to off.  It is an easy thing to miss because it is not on the main user screen.  You have to go to the menu option User Options/Workflow and turn on "Send notifications in email".  I stub my toe on this more often than I'd like to admit.

Have you checked to see if his permissions changed? If the user does not have security permissions any longer to see those details the email will not send.  One question i did want clarification on was if when you looked at email sending status, Does the email show as attempted to send and failed? or does the expected email not even appear on this list?
