Renaming PDF invoices

    We are currently implementing AX2012 R3 and one of the issues we are hoping to resolve is emailing invoices to our biggest customer. We currently send over a 100 invoices a week to this customer who want to receive an invoice for every sales order they send us, they do not want to use consolidated invoicing.

    Currently from our legacy system (AX2009) we save all invoices as pdf into a folder and then at the end of the day the end user attaches a batch of invoices to an email and sends them to the customer.

    As we can't send multiple invoices on one email to the customer from AX2012 R3 we are looking to use the same process we currently use with the legacy system, the challenge we are having is that the invoice from AX2012 R3 is not named with the invoice number so when we save it as a pdf it tries to overwrite the previous invoice with the same name.

    Is there a simple way to name the invoice pdf with the invoice number and possibly account number.

    Any thoughts and help are much appreciated.

    Hi Fraser,

    Is there some kind of customization for automatically saving Invoices in PDF to specific folder on invoicing.  There are few options that i believe should work. Can you create a new folder and use that folder for saving invoices for AX2012 system. I believe it is configurable.
    Also If its automation to save invoices, its easy to change the name for invoice PDF. Actually its better to make it configuration in the code itself so that user can select the format of invoice name or just use number sequence to auto populate it.

    ​What is the purpose of batching the email at all?
    Print management out of the box can be setup to send one email per invoice as it posts. You can post in batch, so the emails go out at that time.
    It's true, that the attachment in the email doesn't have a name that matches the invoice tho - that is annoying....

    Can i suggest Docentric?  I had the same issue, and another AXUG user told me about it.  Our invoices go out with our invoice number and customer PO as the subject, and the document itself is named as the invoice number.

    The amazing thing?  IT'S FREE for this basic use; just needs to be configured.  Their full product has a lot to offer as well.
