    Hi:

We are implementing D365 F&O and we are wondering if there are any recommended reporting tools you use in conjunction with D365 F@O ?

    Thanks

    David,

Thanks for posting!  I would start with Power BI and its capabilities as part of the Power Platform for D365.   The Entity store/AX Data Warehouse is designed to support direct queries from Power BI.

If you already reviewed that tool and feel your team is looking for something else or additional, I would be interested in hearing a little more about what the gaps were, and it might help others responses.

    Hi David

You will find nothing better than ATLAS.
It gives you complete and guided access to all of you ERP data, applies all your security role concept automatically, pulls real time prod data without affecting performance, is easy to use and driven directly out of excel or any other ms office tool.

Let me know if you want to know more  I am MD of a ssc and use it extensively. I can spare some minutes to show you.

    Hi David,

It all depends on the reporting needs. There are out of the box reports and configurable financial reports with Management Reporter. Also Power BI is a good option. If you do see major gaps, there might be other solutions like CPM tooling.

I believe checking Power BI should be first step as its from same vendor and integrated. We use ZAP as we were using it before D365 and happy with it. Personally I like its out-of-box cube and modeler.

    Hi David,

we started and still using PowerBI as it is integrated in our License. The only change so far - to avoid performance issues via the Data Management we are exporting required data via Entities into a SQL Database on Azure (like a Data Warehouse). PowerBI does connect to this Database.

    Cheers

We tried PowerBI - for us, it was good for dashboard creation, but our exec team didn't like the idea of one more tool to login to.  The subscribe feature to send an embedded single tab in email is too limiting (and small) when you have a multi-page dashboard.

So, we are getting started with the Azure BYODB SQL Server.  We are building out Crystal Reports and linked Excel documents for our bigger reports -- these can show up automatically in your inbox or run as you need them.  You don't need a developer, just a business or financial analyst to create the report.
