  • 1.  Finance and Operations Name Change

    HI, looking for more clarity on the name change from Finance and Operations to Finance and Supply Chain.
    What does this really mean for new users? existing users?

    Is it really just if they have a need for Inventory and Warehouse Mangement - they would then have Finance AND Supply Chain? So not much of a change?

    I am just looking for a good clear concise description of the changes for documentation.

    Likewise here. If we don't use MRP or Warehousing, but sell electronic services/contracts using the GL, AR, AP and banking - do we just need Finance? Does use of CE based quote to invoice or PSA, plus D365 based procure to pay, dictate that we need Operations too? Still unclear, including us and our resellers that we use.

    Any clarity most welcome!

    The application overall as far as I know can still be referred to as D365 Finance & Operations (D365FO) until Microsoft comes up with a better name. The new user licensing which breaks out the current Operations licensing into separate modules (Finance, Supply Chain Management, Retail, and Talent). I wrote about this change and how it affects user licensing here:
