MP planned order consolidation/grouping

I am interested if anyone has figured out a way to get Master Planning planned orders to automatically consolidate/group for an item when adding to a 'selection list' or Firming into a purchase order.  In other words, the desired result is not have multiple lines in a PO for the same item.  Currently this must be done manually by filtering/sorting in the list page's desired time period, then selecting each item to 'Group'.  Very tedious and time consuming when dealing with a vendor supplying multiple SKU's (50+ or more).   Thanks in advance for your insights

Does it make more sense to adjust planning parameters vs. having planning generate small orders, then trying to group them?  If you want planning to generate a larger planned order vs. several smaller planned orders, you should look at your coverage code, coverage period, negative / positive days, and Max order size.

I agree with Colby. If you find yourself consolidating that often, it would suggest your not optimizing your planning settings. If the orders are not grouped into one planned order either based on your Coverage code or by manually grouping them together, they will always be separate lines on the Purchase order. If you an group demand over a period of time during the master planning run, that could save some manual efforts.

Thank you Andrew and Colby.  We are currently using period coverage types that cover the ordering frequency, such as every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks, etc. However the leadtime offset that drives order date is causing the additional planned orders to fall into the first time 'bucket'.  We will extend the coverage periods so as to 'group' demands into a single suggested order and test further.   Thanks again gentlemen for your advice and support.
