    Hello,

We have been encountering the following issue when our user is performing a cycle count.

Our process is as follows, person counting will scan a location, scan the product that is in the location and the system/scanner will ask for the count of that product. When a count matches the expected quantity the scanner prompts you to scan the next item that location, this is the case for 95% of the counts.  So the person counting is in scanning mode, and does not realize that the scanner is asking for the quantity to be reentered due to a variance between the expected quantity and the quantity entered; not realizing the scanner is asking for quantity to be reentered, the person counting, proceeds to scan the next item in the location, the system/scanner then accepts the product # as the validated quantity.
This creates a large counted quantity in the Cycle count pending review.

We recognize this is user error and we are able to change the quantity before accepting the count, however,  I wonder if anyone has experienced the same situation and have a systematic suggestion to prevent the system from accepting the product number when asking for quantity to be reentered.

    Thank you,

    Hi

You could configure the mobile device menu item to display the item number, so that the user does not have to scan it.

Appreciate that this moves you away from 'blind counting', if that's what you are going for, but I can't think of anything else. Except for including alpha-characters in your Item numbers, which is probably not practical!

    Guy,

I appreciate your feedback.  I checked our Mobile setting and I notice on the Mobile field "quantity and unit of measure" set to "Alpha" our product numbers are alpha numeric, so we are going to change it to numeric and check if it does not allow for a product number to be scanned/entered. If it works, it should solve the problem if it does not allow the person counting to continue to next item.
