    Has anyone successfully integrated ADP into D365 Finance and Operations? I am looking into being able to have employee and contractor information flow from ADP into D365 rather than entering the same data twice. Is there anything I need to consider for such an integration?

    We are doing a flat-file (SFTP) integration with ADP and using ADP as the system of record and it seems to be working fine so far. Entities we are using are: Employees, Positions, Jobs, Titles, and Departments. Of course, we have a GL entry that is auto-posted every time payroll is processed. This was not very complex and something you have to be okay with is that the integration is only one way, meaning if something is updated in D365, it will get overridden in the next feed from ADP.

    We haven't completely automated the process, but we are using Excel Get and Transform to do the heavy lifting.

    I have HR run a report of all employees and contractors. This includes the columns that we need from ADP to populate the records in D365FO. In our case, ADP is the system of record for the Employee ID, so we have that number sequence set to manual and pull it in from the ADP export.

    I then import that data into Excel using Get & Transform and create 2 entities for import -- Employees and Contractors. I split that data based on their status in ADP. In our case, there is a character added to the end of the Employee ID that indicates contractor.

    I then use Get & Transform to reach into D365FO and pull out the existing workers. I use this table to filter the ADP import. If it exists in Dynamics, don't include it in my import.

    I'm left with 2 small tables of Workers and Contractors. Import that using Data Management.

    It works pretty well. Now that it is all setup, I merely have to save the ADP export into a folder with the right name. Then open the entity Excel file and refresh all the queries. Then import into Dynamics.

    I'm not currently capturing data about terminated employees or the worker contact information. My next addition will check the worker status in ADP to make sure they are still employed, and then update that information in D365FO. Right now they send a ticket to I.T. for terminations so I use that to deactivate their login and terminate the worker in D365FO.  

    This works for us because the HR group is going to continue to use ADP as the HRIS. We just needed workers for other processes like Dynaway EAM for calendar and work scheduling, and journal "approved by".
