Here's a shout out to those technical gurus, do you have any ideas on the below 2 issues:

Whenever logging into AX, the below message is displayed "File Deployment: The client installation is missing the required files to run Microsoft Dynamics.  Click OK to install them now."

The user can click OK, and the system continues immediately into AX.

When trying to save a file attachment, the below message appears "The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.  Please contact your system administrator."

The user can click OK, and save their file.  We have files storing on a file share inside our network.

Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

The link will help, it has to do with the dll files with some customizations done on the previous version before the upgrade.

File Deployment Client Installation Message When Launching Dynamics AX
When launching the Dynamics AX client after a recent Cu9 upgrade, users began receiving a File Deployment message. This message would show up one time in most environments and seem resolved. However, this message was showing up for users every time they launched AX via a published application through Citrix.

I've seen the "restrictions" message when a Windows Group Policy has been setup that blocks certain things (such as application white-listing).

Not sure if that is the case here, but you may be able to find something by checking the event log on the PC that is receiving this error.

    GG,

Are you able to right click on the AX client and click run as administrator?

    Hi

When you upgrade from R1, that i assume is the RTM og 2012 to the R3, you need to make sure that you have the latest prerequsites installed
The thin g is if you do an inplace upgrade the install shield might think you have the correct bits installed but in fact you do not

On of the thing that is update is the CLR and the Report viewer for the Client
If these are not the right version the binaries for AX is not updated

Not sure how you did this update, but can you please double check the version of al you files in the Dynamics AX library
I normally uninstalled and install the whole setup again, just to be sure, also because there is many changes in DIXF if you have used that, you might find problems here as well

On other thing you should check is "blocked files"
If you have copied you installation files of AX R3, or infact any other program, to you server directly through a browser, the file can end up with status blocked. You can check this with "right mouse" click and properties

If the files are blocked you end up in a situation where the install shield cannot apply the correct security to some files, hence don't have access to those. The example is that you download the install files in a ZIP
The ZIP file is blocked and if you dont unblock, these files alle the extracted files also gets blocked

Hope some of this makes sence, i have not seen the error message before, so i am pretty sure something strange went wrong during the installation

Thank you for the replies and ideas!

Our system administrator that it was related to one of our ISV's wanting to write a DLL file to the user profile disk.  We resolved the security issue and the file deployment message is now gone!

The restrictions message was due to the default directory and the user didn't have access.  It was an annoying message because the user wouldn't have a file there anyway, and would navigate to whereever their file was that they wanted to save as an AX attachment.  This is resolved now too, however it is defaulting to the bin directory and the user won't have files there either!  But at least we don't get the error message anymore.
