Learn how to install and configure Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. The course will cover an overview of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, how to plan for an installation, reviewing which components are necessary for the installation and how to lay out the environment. Discussion on how to manage users and security, workflow, reporting and set up Enterprise Portal will also be covered. This class is open to all AXUG users and Partners.

In this class, students will learn how to install and configure Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. This class will start with an overview of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, then it will get into how to plan for an installation, reviewing which components are necessary for the installation and how to lay out the environment. The class will them cover how to do the installation and the associated products and will discuss how to manage users and security, workflow, reporting and set up Enterprise Portal. This class will prepare students to take the Microsoft Dynamics AX Installation and Configuration certification exam offered through Prometric (course number 80221A).

Learning Objectives:

  • After completing this course, students will be able to:
      • Review the main concepts of Installation and Configuration in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
      • Discuss the architecture and requirements of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
      • Install Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
      • Add users to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and assign them to roles in the organization.
      • Understand the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 role based security architecture.
      • Describe architecture for Services and the Application Integration Framework.
      • Setup an inbound port using services.
      • Install services on IIS.
      • Explain the capabilities of workflow in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
      • Configure an approval workflow.
      • Use the SQL Server Analysis Services Project Wizard.
      • Discuss the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 reporting architecture.
      • Deploy Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 SQL Server Reporting Services reports.
      • Deploy and configure Enterprise Portal.
      • Manage Models in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
      • Setup alerts, email, and batch processing in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
      • Discuss the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 organization model at a high level.

Audience:  This course is intended for customers who want to learn how to install and configure Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.  It is also intended for IT managers, system administrators, network engineers, database administrators, and other people in organizations responsible for the setup and configuration of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.

Level: Intermediate

Prerequisites: Students interested in attending this class should have familiarity with IT Operations procedures such as installation software on Windows Server-class machines.

Preparation: Once registered through AXUG Academy you will be contacted by the University of Mary for additional registration information.

Delivery Method: Group Internet-based

CPE Credits: By participating in this class you are eligible to earn up to 30 CPE credits which will be distributed automatically following class completion. Class participation will be monitored and you will not receive CPE credit for any portion of the class that you do not appear fully engaged
