Workshop II - Project Workplan Development
“On-schedule” and “On-budget” are music to good Project Manager’s ears! The Workplan Development Workshop will hone your competency for developing a thorough Project Plan, thus increasing the probability of all-around success in an upgrade project.
As everyone who’s ever done an ERP project knows, these are major undertakings. Most problems occur due to the lack of proper planning. This workshop will minimize that threat. The day’s sessions will include lessons on best practices from professional project managers. Each student will be given a Workplan Template starting point from a proven methodology that includes the universe of aspects that must be considered during the Upgrade project. Students will interact with Users who have treaded this path before. The Workshop will feature labs to develop your company’s Project Plan in real time. Expert Proctors and veteran Users will be leaning over your shoulder to help you leave with the optimal plan to take back to your company.
Objective:
Each participant will depart with a Project Plan for undertaking an AX 2012 Upgrade in their organization.

The role of the Project Manager cannot be overlooked in any upgrade project. Learn about the best practices followed by successful upgrade Project Manager. Tips and tricks for developing a solid upgrade project plan will be reviewed. In this session you will start building an upgrade project plan template that will be updated during the lab part of subsequent workshop session. |

Implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 with Sure Step: A Winning Combination |
Learn how Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step should be used to provide a strong project management discipline around your upgrade project. Find out about the many documents and templates available to make your upgrade easier. Analysis, design, development, deployment, and operation all represent key phases of the Sure Step methodology and will be highlighted through the session and lab work, as your project plan template is developed. |

Implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX - Solution Architecture |
Every successful upgrade starts with adequate time spent preparing and planning. With Dynamics AX2012, it is now easier to identify and plan key upgrade functions like solution architecture, design, and documentation. Each of these functions in Dynamics AX2012 takes into consideration system architecture, application integration, customization, and performance planning, allowing your upgrade to start off on a successful path. Lets take a quick break from developing your project plan template and talk about another important fact about upgrades - upgrades are more than technical exercises. Learn the approaches and techniques for successfully managing change in your organization and how best to keep people, process, and resources focused on the upgrade objectives. |

Data Migration Tools and Approaches |
Migration of data is sometimes an after thought or later task in the upgrade project plan. Learn why this is a mistake and what the correct best practices are for handling data migration with Microsoft Dynamics AX2012. This will include a discussion of the migration path currently available from previous version of Dynamics AX to Dynamics AX2012. Keep adding to your project plan template during the lab part of this session. |
